MONTREAL – One of the brightest – and biggest – Winnipeg Jets young stars has been signed to an amateur tryout contract with the St. John’s IceCaps.
Forward Adam Lowry, 20, is coming off an impressive campaign with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League in which he led his team with 88 points on 45 goals and 43 assists, adding five more points in five playoff games.
Selected by the Jets in the third round, 67th overall, of the 2011 NHL entry draft, the 6-foot-5, 201-pound product of Calgary – his father Dave was a long-time NHLer who played in over 1,000 games with Vancouver, St. Louis, Florida, San Jose and Calgary and is now the head coach of the WHL’s Victoria Royals.
Adam will join the IceCaps, who have nine games left in the regular season.
