Idle No More activists make surprise appearance at Liberal debate

Foreign ownership of Canadian resources, crime prevention, climate change, farming, northern development and the health of Lake Winnipeg are just a few of the topics being discussed today during the Liberal leadership debate in Winnipeg.
The event, being held at the recently reopened Metropolitan Theatre in downtown Winnipeg, is more like a fireside chit-chat with each of the nine candidates than a knuckle-duster debate.
Each candidate has a chance to speak one-on-one with moderator Harvey Locke on a number of set topics.
The debate was only minutes old when two Idle No More activists, one pounding on a drum, interrupted candidate Karen McCrimmon, drowning out the proceedings and shouting, "When are we going to be first on the agenda?"
A few moments later they were escorted from the building.
The style of today's event is geared towards giving each of the candidates time to showcase their ideas on policy.
