Idle No More protesters set sights on Sun

About 75 people with Idle No More staged a 90-minute lunch-hour protest outside the Winnipeg Sun office on Saturday.

The movement protested the Sun Media newspaper chain's editorial comment and news coverage on aboriginal affairs, as well as online comments posted by readers and permitted by the paper.

"We don’t think most of the media are doing a great job covering the events but the Sun, in particular, has had the most bias against the movement," said one of the protestors, Monique Woroniak.

In a news release, the Sun said it has invited organizers of the event to express their concerns in a full-page commentary. It allows readers to post comments directly to its website.

"We put the onus on our readers to flag offensive comments, at which time we review them and, if necessary, remove them," said Stephen Ripley, Editor-in-Chief, in the statement.
