Well, say farewell to TSN Jets, and say hello to a whole slate of regional games broadcast on a brand-new channel, TSN3.
On Monday, the Jets and TSN announced that the 65 Jets games slated for regional broadcast in 2014-15 will be shown on TSN3, eliminating the need for the previous dedicated TSN Jets channel. That means no more subscription needed: every subscriber who already gets TSN will get TSN3 automatically included in their cable package.
TSN3’s Jets coverage will include include five exhibition tilts and 60 regular season games, starting when the Jets host the Minnesota Wild on Sept. 22 and kicking off the season with the road opener on Oct. 9 against Arizona. The rest of the Jets games have already been parceled out to CBC Hockey Night in Canada, Rogers Sportsnet and City TV. Finally, two other pre-season games will be shown on TSN GO.
Those Jets games will now be broadcast across all of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and parts of Northwestern Ontario, including Kenora, Dryden and Thunder Bay. The channel is one of five new TSN feeds to debut on Monday, Aug. 25.
There won’t be any change in the booth, though: play-by-play announcer Dennis Beyak will carry over to TSN3, as will colour commentators Shane Hnidy and Brian Engblom. There will also be a 30-minute pre- and post-game show. Radio coverage of live games will remain on TSN 1290.
The Jets also released their full broadcast schedule on Monday.
