Jets get some encouraging news

BOSTON — The injury news had some improvement today for the Winnipeg Jets.
Defenceman Dustin Byfuglien remains at home with a lower-body injury and his return date is unknown, but there were three encouraging developments at the team’s afternoon practice at TD Garden, where the Jets meet the Boston Bruins Tuesday night (6 p.m. CT, TSN Jets, TSN 1290).
Forward Alex Burmistrov, who missed Saturday’s overtime win in Buffalo with a "mid-level" injury, was back on the ice today, as was centre Tim Stapleton, who missed the Buffalo game with the flu.
Also in full participation mode today was defenceman Derek Meech, who hasn’t played since Oct. 19 and 20 — his only two games of the season — because of a knee injury.
Meech has been cleared for contact, Jets coach Claude Noel said afterwards, and no longer requires a "warning" red jersey in practice.
The Jets wrap up their four-game road trip here against the hot Bruins (23-4-1 in their last 28 games) and return home to play the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.
