Jets have change of heart — will open store Sunday
The Winnipeg Jets have changed their mind and will open their merchandise store on Sunday, though only men’s T-shirts are left in stock.
The team had said earlier today that Jets Gear would not open Sunday because it was expected there wouldn’t be any stock left.
The store will be open Sunday from noon until 5 p.m., or as long as the T-shirts last.
"We anticipate being sold out of all that merchandise by the end of today," Brown said earlier today.
"We hope to have more in by Monday and to continue on with sales into next week."
Brown said that the team store brought in close to $200,000 worth of merchandise for its Friday afternoon opening, mainly T-shirts and hats.
The hats were all sold by this morning as the store put through 1,200 transactions between 4 p.m. Friday and noon today. More than 1,900 hats were sold.
Other sports retailers in Winnipeg were on the merchandise bandwagon as of today.
A check with River City Sports on Henderson Highway this afternoon revealed that location was sold out of new Jets hats, too, but other River City locations and other retailers around the city had some left on the shelves.
"We love the logo," said River City staffer Connie this afternoon. "We expect to have more by mid-week next week, along with some youth clothing and more men’s and women’s items."
The Jets unveiled their new logos late Friday.
