Ladd lifts Jets to win over Devils
WINNIPEG — Andrew Ladd's second goal of the game 8:01 from the finish lifted the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils at the MTS Centre Thursday night.
Blake Wheeler had the empty-net insurance with 35.8 seconds left.
The win snapped the Jets' four-game losing streak at home.
They've won five of their last six overall, after completing a five-game road trip earlier this week with four wins.
Second-period report
Andrei Loktionov’s second goal of the season early in the second period has squared tonight’s NHL game with the Winnipeg Jets at one apeice at the MTS Centre.
Loktionov dashed down the right wing and snapped a quick shot past Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec at 3:05 of the period.
Andrew Ladd had scored for the Jets just eight seconds after the start of the game, his team-leading 11th of the season.
The Jets had a 56-second two-man advantage late in the period but faltered badly during the power play.

Andrew Ladd tied the franchise record for the fastest goal from the start of a game and the Winnipeg Jets carry a 1-0 lead over the New Jersey Devils into the first intermission of tonight’s NHL game at the MTS Centre.
Ladd scored just eight seconds after the opening faceoff, deking Devils goalie Johan Hedberg on a breakaway.
The Jets outshot the Devils 8-5 in the first.

The Winnipeg Jets will attempt to maintain their momentum when they return from a five-game road trip and play the New Jersey Devils tonight at the MTS Centre (7 p.m., TSNJets, TSN1290).
Winnipeg won four of five games away from home, capping off the run with a 4-3 win Tuesday night in New York against the Rangers.
Winnipeg’s previous win was a 4-2 decision last Sunday in New Jersey, the Devils’ most recent game.
Winnipeg, 9-9-1, is tied for the Southeast Division lead but on points alone, is 10th in the Eastern Conference heading into tonight’s play.
The Devils, who have lost four of the last five, have 24 points and are sixth in the Eastern Conference.
