A campaign worker for mayoral challenger Judy Wasylycia-Leis inadvertently asked Mayor Sam Katz's communications director to perform at a campaign fundraising concert.

The "Judy for Mayor" campaign approached Les Sexy, a francophone punk band, to perform at a campaign event later this month.

Unbeknownst to the campaign, Katz communications director Brad Salyn plays drums for the band. He declined the invitation.

When informed about gaffe, Wasylycia-Leis joked it was too bad she would not get to see Les Sexy at her event.

"Even right-wingers can play drums," she joked.

Salyn said he figured it was an honest mistake by her campaign. He also regretted the publicity, as he keeps his music separate from his day job.

"The whole point of joining a band was to be involved in something that has nothing to do with politics," he said.
