Lace up your skates and hit The Forks

  • Print

It’s time to lace up those skates and channel your inner Wayne Gretzky — most of the winter attractions at The Forks are now open.

The central skating rink under the canopy across from the Johnston Terminal, the Olympic-sized skating rink adjacent to the Scotiabank Stage and 1.2 kilometres of skating trails between The Forks’ Plaza and The Forks’ Market, are all ready for action.

The toboggan hill is also open, while the Snowboard Fun Park, the Red River Mutual Trail and the Great-West Life Snow Lounge are still to come.

The Snow Lounge, a new addition to The Forks’ Arctic Glacier Winter Park this year, will be a relaxing spot for skaters to take five on furniture made entirely of snow.

There are warming shacks, too, and if you don’t own a pair of skates, rentals are available for $3 for children and $5 for adults.

For more information, visit theforks.com/winterpark.

Now that former cabinet minister Theresa Oswald has entered the NDP leadership race, do you believe the "gang of five" rebel ministers were right to publicly criticize Premier Greg Selinger's leadership?
