Lazarenko’s family endorses Motkaluk in Mynarski

WINNIPEG -- Retired Mynarski city councillor Harry Lazarenko’s family has endorsed candidate Jenny Motkaluk in that ward’s open race.

In a statement released this week by the Motkaluk campaign, Lazarenko family members said "We are proud to see Jenny take up the torch that Harry held for so long. We are confident that she will be the best representative for Mynarski."

Motkaluk, who is running partly on a platform to put a "cop on every corner" of main North End drags, was also endorsed this week by the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg.

"She knows that we will be building over six new fire halls in south Winnipeg and she will strongly fight any attempt to take fire resources out of her ward to staff the new fire halls in the south," UFFW president Alex Forrest said in a release.

The Mynarski race is shaping up to be one of the city’s tightest, after 30-year councillor Lazarenko stepped down following a serious  brain aneurysm in May from which he is still recovering in hospital

Six candidates are vying for the open seat.
