Lighthouse Mission preps for 101st annual Thanksgiving feast
Winnipeg’s Lighthouse Mission volunteers and staff are making last-minute preparations for tonight’s 101st annual Thanksgiving dinner.
The mission assures it will be ready to serve more than 300 people with its traditional dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and pumpkin pie.
The dinner, also hosted in part by Grace Community Church, is at 6:30 p.m., at the mission’s centre at 669 Main St.
Lighthouse Mission has been working with and caring for those with mental illness, addictions, and extreme poverty for 101 years.
"It is for them we enthusiastically offer a warm and accepting environment to share a family-like Thanksgiving feast with us," Sean Goulet, the mission’s executive director, said in a release.
