Live coverage of water park vote

Join Free Press city hall reporters Jen Skerritt and Bartley Kives at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday as they cover city council's April meeting, which will include a debate about selling off the gravel downtown surface lot known as Parcel Four to an Alberta hotel chain.

Council is deeply divided about the plan, which calls for the city to sell the 2.2-hectare site for $6 million to Canalta, which plans to build 250 hotel rooms, a 50,000-square-foot water park and a 450-stall parkade at the site.

The city intends to give Canalta a $7-million grant in exchange for $700,000 worth of admission credits every year for the next 25 years.
