MBCI boys volleyball team clinches championship

The Mennonite Brethren Hawks varsity boys' volleyball team won the 2012 AAAA Provincial High School Volleyball Championship on Monday night defeating the Lord Selkirk Royals 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-13) at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre.

Josh Goossen, who had nine kills in the final, was named the tournament's most valuable player.

The players of the game were Selkirk's Anders Hanson and MBCI's Brendan Folkerts, who led all players with 13 kills. The Players' Choice Award winner was Adam DeJonckheere of the St. Paul's Crusaders.

On the tournament's all-star team were DeJonckheere, David Bommersbach of the Miles Macdonell Buckeyes, Selkirk's Brandon Sutherland and Joel Makara and MBCI's Adam Schriemer and Folkerts.
