MJHL names players of the month

Four of Manitoba's top young hockey talents were lauded today, when the Manitoba Junior Hockey League announced its February players of the month.

Leading the pack: 20-year-old Dauphin Kings forward Jon Gaudet, who was named the RBC Player of the Month after he led all MJHL scorers with a whopping 24 points in only 11 games. Gaudet's teammate, Kings forward Jesse Sinatynsky, and 20-year-old Winnipeg Blues forward Jeremy Olinyk were named runners-up.

The MJHL's Sherwood Hockey Defenceman of the Month award went to Dauphin Kings blueliner Tanner Butler, who led MJHL defencemen in February scoring.

In net, Winnipeg Blues goaltender Isaiah Plett was named MGEU Goaltender of the Month for the second month in a row, after notching a shutout and winning all six games he played in last month -- thanks to a .956 save percentage.

IBAM Rookie of the Month went to another returning candidate: Winkler Flyers player Tristan Keck, who won the honour in January, earned it again by scoring five goals and eight assists in February.
