Male hands gun to friend and tells him to shoot girl
Two young men believed to be members of a street gang are in custody after a girl was threatened with a handgun early Thursday in the North End.
The 16-year-old girl was walking near Flora Avenue and Andrews Street at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, when she was confronted by six individuals, police said today.
A member of the group was carrying two firearms, he passed a gun to another group member and told him to shoot the girl. The youth pointed the loaded firearm at the girl and threatened to shoot her and her residence.
The gun was not fired and the girl walked away and reported it to police.
That afternoon, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in the 100 block of Powers Street and charged with numerous weapons-related offences.
An 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday night near Selkirk Avenue and Salter Street in connection with the incident, and a loaded handgun was located at a residence in the 100 block of Juno Street following the execution of a search warrant.
The 18-year-old was charged with a variety of offences, including counseling to commit an indictable offence and possession of a restricted weapon. Police said some of the charges involved alleged incidents when the man was a youth and his identity is not being released.
Police said the two individuals charged are members of a local street gang.
