Man arrested in connection with Wolseley deaths

  • Print

A 44-year-old man is in custody accused of two counts of second-degree murder for last summer's deaths of a common-law couple inside a troubled Wolseley-area rooming house.

Jeffrey Kionke was arrested Feb. 8 as a suspect in the Aug. 29 killings of Eunice Crow, 19, and Trevor Sinclair, 31.

Police have previously said the two died after being gravely injured in "what is believed to be a violent attack."

Const. Eric Hofley said Kionke was arrested in Regina on Feb. 5 and has been transferred back to Winnipeg.

Hofley said the two victims were slain on Aug. 29, but their bodies weren't found until Sept. 4.

He said the two victims knew Kionke -- who lived in another suite in their rooming house -- but police are still investigating to detemine what led to the slayings.

Hofley said both Crow and Sinclair died of multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

Police said witnesses say they saw "suspicious activity" at 210 Chestnut St. from Aug. 29 to Aug. 30.

The bodies were found inside a suite by police on Sept. 4 about 7:50 a.m.

Police sought an arrest warrant for Kionke on Feb. 5.

Police are expected to reveal more details about the investigation at a news conference this morning.

The rooming house in which Sinclair and Crow died was a source of frequent police attention.
