Man beaten near Vimy Ridge Park

WINNIPEG - A 48-year-old man was beaten Saturday night near Vimy Ridge Park, police said.

Winnipeg police said the assault occurred around 10 p.m. when two men confronted the man. The 48-year-old attempted to walk away, but the two men started to beat him.

The victim sustained a number of injuries, but did not require medical attention.

A short time later, police arrested two men who were in the area.

A 33-year-old man is charged with assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance. A 19-year-old man is also in police custody, and faces charges of assault with a weapon and two counts of fail to comply with the conditions of a recognizance.
