Man charged after deadly ATV rollover near Lundar

A 28-year-old Oak Point man is facing impaired driving charges after an ATV crash Friday night that killed a 30-year-old Winnipeg man.

Emergency services were called at 10:45 p.m. Friday to the crash scene, located on Highway 6 about 10 kilometres south of Lundar in the rural municipality of St. Laurent.

They found a single ATV had rolled over and a 30-year-old Winnipeg man was lying on the highway suffering serious injuries, RCMP said Saturday.

The man was pronounced dead in hospital. His name has not been released.

RCMP believe the man who died was one of four people riding the quad in the ditch when the driver lost control, rolling the vehicle and ejecting everyone on board.

The three other people on the quad were treated at the scene for minor injuries. None of the passengers was wearing a helmet, RCMP said.

The driver, a 28-year-old Oak Point man, is facing impaired driving charges. His name was not released.

The man was released on a promise to appear in court in January 2013.
