Man charged after robbery with handgun
A 23-year-old man has been charged with several firearms offences after police received reports of a man with a gun early Thursday morning.
Police said they were called to a hotel near McPhillips Street and Jefferson Avenue at about 3:15 a.m. A man and a woman were running through the hotel area, a police press release said. After a brief foot chase, Division 13 officers took them both into custody without incident.
Police said the man was seen earlier with a woman walking through the parking lot when he pulled a handgun on someone and demanded their property. The couple fled the scene, only to return a short time later when police chased and arrested them. They recovered the stolen property and two replica handguns. The woman was not charged, police said.
The man faces several charges including robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of probation.
