Man charged in late-night arson

An 18-year-old man is facing charges after setting fire to a garage in the area of the 100 block of Sawchuk Bay on Friday.

The man also broke into a truck that was parked nearby and started removing property from it. The owner and another area resident saw the man and apprehended him for police, who responded to the fire around 12:25 a.m.

An investigation has revealed the man is also a suspect in a fence and garage fire that happened in the same area on June 14, 2012.

He is charged with arson-damage to property and theft under $5,000 and he has been released on a Promise to Appear.
