  • Print

A missing person cold case that went unsolved for eight years is now a murder case.

Derek James Kembel was 25 when he went missing in early 2003. Now, investigators have charged Christopher Robin Shewchuk, 29, with first-degree murder, even though Kembel’s body has not been recovered, RCMP said.

Also charged is Thomas Ronald Shewchuk, 60, with accessory after the fact to murder.

Kembel was last seen at a Dauphin bar Feb. 28, 2003.
