Man in 60s riding bicycle sexually assaults girl walking on sidewalk

A girl was sexually assaulted Tuesday morning by a man in his 60s riding a grey mountain bike, police said today.

The assault took place about 9:20 a.m. in the area of Ness Avenue and Sturgeon Road.

The 13-year-old girl was walking on the north sidewalk of Ness Avenue when she was approached from behind by an unknown male on a bicycle. The girl moved over to allow the cyclist to pass at which time the man inappropriately touched her, police said.

The man fled the area and the victim was not injured.

The man is described as a: Caucasian male, 60's with scruffy grayish facial hair, wearing a bright yellow jacket, dark toque, blue jeans and white boots. He was riding a grey mountain bike.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-2839 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
