Man in hospital after accident in unfinished house

  • Print

A man was taken to hospital following a scary construction accident north of the Maples this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. at 30 Amber Trail, near the intersection of Tessler Bay. A man was crushed by a pack of trusses on the second floor of an unfinished house.

A WFPS spokesman said there were about a dozen large trusses on top of the man's chest.

Emergency crews on scene climbed up to the second floor and cut through the wood trusses with a chainsaw to free the man, who remained conscious the whole time.

He was rushed to hospital in unstable condition.

It's not clear how the trusses ended up on top the man, the spokesman said. Workplace Health and Safety investigators have been notified.
