Man dies after being trapped in burning trailer

  • Print

A 44-year-old man has succumbed to injuries he sustained in a fire that started Tuesday inside a vacant semi-trailer parked in a downtown lane way.

The identity of the victim is not being released, pending notification of next of kin.

The trailer was in a parking lot in the area of Logan Avenue and Lizzie Street when the blaze broke out about 2:15 p.m.

Ted Kuryluk, platoon chief with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, said firefighters found the interior of the trailer on fire, located a man and pulled him out. He was taken by ambulance to the Health Sciences Centre in unstable condition and did not survive.
