Man recovering from zap by police Taser

WINNIPEG - The condition of a man Tasered by Winnipeg Police Monday night has been upgraded to stable.

Police said that the investigation into the incident is continuing.

Officers were responding to a domestic complaint in the 500-block of Balmoral around 10:15 p.m. when an altercation developed with a 31-year-old man nearby in the laneway behind an apartment block in the 300 block of Kennedy Street at Qu’Appelle Avenue.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police have refused to explain the circumstances that brought them into contact with the man when their officers were involved in searching for a couple in an unrelated dispute.

The incident is being investigated by the Winnipeg Police major crimes unit.
