Man stabbed during St. Boniface altercation

A 23-year-old man was arrested Sunday night, believed responsible for a stabbing attack in St. Boniface.

Winnipeg police say a 22-year-old man walking in the area of Elizabeth Road and Drake Boulevard was approached by another man who asked to use his cell phone.

The victim declined and then was attacked and stabbed by the suspect, who fled the area.

Officers responded and the suspect was arrested nearby.

The 23-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, and possessing a controlled drug.

The victim is in stable condition.
