Man stabbed during dispute Saturday

An 18-year-old man is recovering in hospital in stable condition after being stabbed Saturday afternoon, Const. Jacqueline Chaput reports.

Police were called to the 500 block of Pritchard Avenue at 4:10 p.m. Saturday.

The 18-year-old victim was conveyed to hospital in critical condition with a number of stab wounds to his upper and lower body, and has since been upgraded to stable condition, Chaput said.

The investigation has revealed that the victim and two male acquaintances were walking in the area of the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue where they became involved in a verbal dispute with a second group of three unknown males.

Chaput said that a physical altercation ensued, resulting, police believe, in the victim being stabbed and personal property being stolen by the suspects before they fled the area.

The investigation is continuing by the Major Crimes Unit and no additional information is available at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
