Man threatens family while trying to take their vehicle on Portage

Police are looking for a man with a cut on his forehead who threatened a family during an attempted vehicle robbery on Portage Avenue Sunday night.

Officers went to a parking lot in the 2500 block of Portage Avenue at about 7:20 p.m., after the man threatened the 66-year-old man and his family while trying to take their vehicle.

The man demanded car keys and indicated he was armed, before the victims backed away and the man fled.

The man was seen getting into a white four-door car on Moray Street. Police said it looks similar to a Honda Prelude.

Police are now looking for a dark-haired Caucasian man in his 20s. He’s about 6’0 and 185 pounds,with  a medium build.

The man also had a cut on his forehead that had been recently stitched. The cut was between his eyes, said police.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 986-2839, or Crime Stoppers at 786-8477 (TIPS).
