Manitoba athletes bring home 2 track medals in Canada Games

Team Manitoba scored dual silver medals on the track this afternoon at the Canada Games.

Quin Ferguson of Winnipeg grabbed silver in the men’s 400 metres in P.E.I. today.

Ferguson, 21, ran second to Ontario’s Daniel Harper at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place this afternoon.

Harper stopped the clock in 47.15 seconds, while Ferguson was in at 47.32, just one one-hundredths of a second off his personal best.

The University of Manitoba Bisons male athlete of the year for 2008-09 won his qualifying heat on Monday in 48.84 seconds.

In the women’s 400 metres, 15-year-old Carly Parochoski of Winnipeg ran 54.95 seconds to finish second behind Ontario’s Kate Ruediger (54.49).
