Manitoba budget results in gas price hike

That’s not just a gas increase, that’s a budget tax hike.

The price of filling 'er up went up by 2.5 cents a litre across Manitoba at midnight, thanks to last month’s provincial budget.

For the past 20 years, the provincial taxation hit on gas was 11.5 cents per litre. But the April 17 budget pushed the tax take up to 14 cents a litre, effective today.
