Manitoba charging ahead with 1,600 new jobs
Manitoba had even more people working in January after a solid increase in December.
Nationally there were fewer jobs in January according to Statistics Canada report released this morning but Manitoba kept charging ahead with 1,600 new jobs.

That drove Manitoba’s unemployment rate down to 5.0 per cent even though there was a slight increase in the labour force here as opposed to a 58,000 decline in the number of people looking for work across the country.
That matches Manitoba’s lowest unemployment rate — reached also in September — in more than a year.
The biggest gains in employment in January came in the hospitality sector as well as the information and creative industries.
Utilities and education services saw the biggest employment declines in January.
