Manitoba musicians, music reps heading to Cannes

MANITOBA’S music community is making a showing in France.

A local delegation of artists and industry representatives are heading to Cannes, France next week for the annual MIDEM music business conference, which runs Jan. 28-31. Last year, almost 7,000 delegates attended the annual trade fair.

Local attendees include reps from C-Weedband.com, Durand Musique, Empirical Artists Services, Head in the Sand, Olesia Records, Rising Sun Productions, Manitoba Trade and Investment Corporation, Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film & Music.

Winnipeg singer-songwriter Daniel Roa and pop-rock group Les Jupes will play showcases as part of the Canadian Blast series and Manitoba Film & Music will host a networking dinner.

The trip is funded in part through the Manitoba Trade and Investment program and the Market Access Program, jointly funded by Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film & Music.
