Manitoba's Potter joins national basketball team to compete in Netherlands

Winnipegger Emily Potter will join the 2012 Cadette Women’s Basketball National Team at the Under-17 World Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands August 17-26.
Basketball Canada announced its final 12-woman roster Wednesday with Potter being the lone Manitoban to make the cut.
"We are very excited about our group of twelve. Over the past year, several individuals have shown tremendous improvement, and made our decisions very difficult," said head coach Carly Clarke in a release. "Overall we have a great deal of size, length, athleticism and versatility, which should allow us to play in a variety of ways and with a variety of line ups."
The six-foot-five Potter currently plays forward for the Manitoba Provincial team and will be entering her final year at Glenlawn Collegiate in the fall.
Potter and the rest of the women’s national team will look to build off and improve on last year’s 11th place finish at the 2011 U-17 World Championships in France.
Canada will be in group A which includes Belgium, Italy, Korea, Mali and USA.
Their first game is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 17 against Italy.
