Tolko kraft paper mill workers in Ths Pas have signed a new labour deal, their union reports.
The five-year deal, signed Friday, includes wage hikes of two per cent a year retroactive to last February, Canadian Energy and Paperworkers Local 1403 said in a press release. The deal also includes improvements to benefits, vision care and orthodontics.
Local 1403 represents about 220 mill workers.
"The parties renegotiated certain clauses affecting job movement within the mill as well as apprenticeships and job progression in the steam plant which save the company money and create longer-term stability and viability for the mill," the press release said.
"This was a tough but respectful round of negotiations," said national representative Paul McKie in the press release. "The union bargaining committee made decisions that ensure the mill has the opportunity to succeed and grow."
