Missing city woman returns home

The family of a missing woman, Jessica Jones, reported Sunday she is safe at home.

"How do I feel? I’m relieved Jessica came home safe," her mother Jennifer Jackson-Jones said Sunday afternoon.

Jessica arrived home Saturday morning.

Last week, Jones's family issued a frantic appeal for her return, saying she’d gone missing the previous weekend and they had been unable to locate her.

The Winnipeg Police Service assigned detectives to the case.

"We want to let the public know we appreciate all the support," said Jones’s mother, adding "especially the missing persons detectives working on her behalf."

Sunday morning, the first word of Jones’s whereabouts were tweeted by her sister Brittany Jones. "My sister Jessica is home, safe and alive! Thank you to everyone for the RTs! It means so much!" Jones reported.

Jackson-Jones said she didn’t want to say anything about her daughter’s condition, other than she was concerned for her.

The family's last contact with their daughter was late at night, a week ago Saturday. At the time of the appeal, Jackson-Jones said the family was particularly worried because the young woman had been suffering from depression and an alcohol addiction.

A week ago Sunday, RCMP found Jones’ wrecked car abandoned on the median near the westbound ramp of the Perimeter Highway at McPhillips Street.
