The Manitoba Moose culled their herd by one with the release of forward Ryan Cruthers from his professional contract, the club announced Thursday morning.
Cruthers, 26, has appeared in 12 games with the Moose after signing on Jan. 7. In that span, he scored four points (3 goals, 1 assist ) and collected nine penalty minutes.
The Moose (28-16-1-5), who haven't darkened the MTS Centre since a 5-3 victory over the Abbotsford Heat on Jan. 23, will host the San Antonio Rampage on Friday and Saturday night (7:30 p.m.) to open a six-game home stand as they prepare to retain their first place hold in the AHL's North division.
On Saturday night, the Moose will honour former captain and three-time Stanley Cup winner Mike Keane by retiring his No. 12 jersey. Keane retired this past summer after a distinguished 22-year NHL career, before suiting up for the Moose his last five seasons.
