GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Defence and discipline have carried the Manitoba Moose to a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The Moose gave up just one goal for the third straight game and beat the Griffins 3-1 on Monday night at Van Andel Arena, moving to within one win of clinching their best-of-seven AHL North Division final series.

Manitoba can end the series with another win here Wednesday night.

Matt Pope, who was in for the injured Michael Grabner, and Alexandre Bolduc staked the Moose to a 2-0 lead in Monday’s first period and defence and goalie Cory Schneider did the rest against the Griffins, who were outshot 28-23 in their home rink.
