Morning commute calls for cautious driving
Freezing rain, snow on way and the mercury is dropping
If the streets and highways in and around Winnipeg aren't slick already, they will be.
Periods of freezing drizzle and snow this morning, with amounts of five centimetres, will make for some hazardous driving conditions. The temperature will also fall to -9 C early this afternoon, and then plummet to -15 C overnight with a wind chill of -25.
As of 5 a.m. this morning, Manitoba Highways was reporting ice-covered and snow-covered stretches on many highways and roads across the province.
Refer to the government website at www.gov.mb.ca/mit/roadinfo/ if you are venturing out on provincial highways this morning.
On Friday, expect a mix of sun and cloud and a high of just -13 C. More snow is forecasted for Saturday, with a high of -7 C and a nighttime low of -20 C.
Daytime highs will average around -12 C from Sunday through Wednesday.
