Most Winnipeg employers not hiring this summer

It’s going to be a bleak summer as far as job prospects go, according to a private-sector survey released this morning.

The Manpower Employer Outlook Survey found that most employers – 77 per cent – in the Winnipeg area plan on no new hirings for the July-September period.

The survey found that 15 per cent of employers in Winnipeg plan to hire for the summer months, while seven per cent anticipate cutbacks.

The survey is conducted quarterly to measure employers’ intentions to increase or decrease the number of employees during the next quarter.

Manpower Group describes itself as the world leader in innovative workforce solutions.
