Motorcyclist crashes after dodging deer

WINNIPEG -- A 27-year-old woman escaped serious injury this morning after sliding out on her motorcycle when a deer crossed in front of her on the Trans-Canada Highway near the city limits.

The accident occurred around 6 a.m. in the westbound lane.

RCMP credit the proper use of a helmet for limiting the woman's injuries. She was conscious and breathing at the scene and was taken to Health Sciences Centre with non-life-threatening injuries.
