There are a lot of people who should not be behind the wheel in our city and I'm all for police check stops etc..

I think the people that are driving threw check stops should be punished to the highest extent. These officers are putting there lives on the line to protect our roadways. Hey Rocco...if you can do a better job, then how about you go and apply to be a police officer.

Rocco1022, you're so-called "logic" of blaming our Officers SUCKS! If you have your driver license-God help us all! YOU NEED a refresher course on driver & vehicle safety.

Rocco: These guys abandoned a car, ran and hid, had to be taken down by a tactical squad and were charged with having drugs -- and your conclusion is: 'oh, the police didn't properly give him notice to stop'. Wow, your logic astounds me, you should be a judge.

Police do not cause crimes. The criminals and idiots do. Why are you even defending a drunk driver, rocco1022? IT's a good thing no one got hurt.
I don't care how much a of a pain those checks stops are. If so many people in this city truely don't care about others when they drink, then we need those check stops.
I applaud the police for doing their part to try to catch the many many maniacs roaming Winnipeg.

How about attempted murder of a peace officer. 25 years baby!!!

Why is it that we always want to blame the Police. We ask these people to defend us and then when there is a situation it is always thier fault. Can we not give these poor guys a break.

@rocco1022: I think this was less about "crappy direction" and more that the people running the traffic stop didn't want to be caught with drugs/alcohol.

check stop organization by the police in this city SUCK!!!! went thru one last night, and the cops couldn't even manage traffic movement... maybe they need a refresher course.... no wonder the guy almost hit him... crappy direction by the police
