Driver escapes injury after vehicle sandwiched between two large trucks

  • Print

Everyone walked safely away from a collision on the south Perimeter Highway this morning that saw a pickup truck catch fire after being sandwiched between a semi-truck and a cement truck.

The west and eastbound lanes on the highway were closed after the collision  at  7 a.m. at St. Anne's Road and the Perimeter Highway.

The eastbound lanes have now been reopened to traffic. One westbound lane, between St. Mary's Road and Highway 59, has now been reopened to traffic, RCMP said.

Motorists should expect delays in the area, RCMP said.

Investigation and witness reports indicate that the semi and the concrete pumping truck were both westbound, when the semi was in collision with a pickup truck that was attempting to merge into the westbound lanes, RCMP said.
