NDP tied with Tories, poll finds

New Democrats dominate public support in Winnipeg

The New Democrats have caught back up to the Conservatives and are dominating public support within the City of Winnipeg, says a Probe Research Inc. survey of 1,000 Manitoba adults released today.

"After trailing the Progressive Conservatives for much of the past year, the New Democrats have regained their strength and are once again tied with the PCs at 44 per cent," the Probe poll said.

The NDP surge has come at the expense of the Liberals, who’ve dropped to just nine per cent support.

Three months ago, the New Democrats trailed the Tories by 12 points.

The NDP has 50 per cent support of voters within Winnipeg, compared to 37 per cent for the Tories and 11 per cent for the Liberals.

Probe says that With a sample of 1,000, one can say with 95 per cent certainty that the results are within +/- 3.1 percentage points of what they would have been if the entire adult population of Manitoba had been interviewed.
