Niakwa Inn held up

Two men raised a blinding stink, literally, to pull off a heist overnight Sunday at the Niakwa Inn in St. Vital.

Winnipeg police reported Sunday morning that two men barged into the hotel and bar in the 100 block of Alpine Avenue just before 2 a.m. and sprayed a noxious substance in the air to disarm hotel staff and patrons.

Both wore disguises and carried firearms.

They sprayed a noxious substance, got an undisclosed amount of cash and left, leaving witnesses unable to supply much of a description, for the tears pouring from their eyes.

They held up two women workers, one aged 20 and the other 37, and demanded cash.

The best description was was both men were wearing dark clothing and on the tall side; one about 6-feet and the other about 5-9.

They are suspected to have used pepper spray or bear spray.
