No debate on approving new residential neighbourhood

Winnipeg's largest new residential neighbourhood since Waverley West has cleared the first hurdle at city hall -- with no discussion.

City council's property committee has approved the first reading of a plan to open up 325 hectares of land on the south side of Charleswood.

The proposed Ridgewood South development would replace farmers' fields with thousands of new residents over the next 15 years.
