Noel has doubts Bogosian will play against Stars

WINNIPEG -— Optimism has again turned to pessimism over the return of defenceman Zach Bogosian to the Winnipeg Jets lineup Wednesday night.

Bogosian didn’t skate with the Jets this morning at the MTS IcePlex. After telling reporters on Monday that he thought Bogosian was a candidate to play against the Dallas Stars Wednesday at the MTS Centre, coach Claude Noel said he’s now got his doubts.

"He’s day-to-day; may not be a player for tomorrow," Noel said.

The coach said the defenceman might take Wednesday’s morning skate but made it sound doubtful he’d be available for the first of the team’s three home games this week.

The team is saying this one is lower body. Bogosian has missed 10 of the last 11 games with a variety of injuries.

Noel’s better news today was that defenceman Dustin Byfuglien, who didn’t skate Monday, was in full participation mode today in front of several hundred fans watching at IcePlex.

Noel said Byfuglien is a player against the Stars.

The Jets are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference standings at 72 points, four points back of the eighth-place Washington Capitals and five back of the division-leading Florida Panthers.
