Nygard to debut gowns for mammogram patients

Even if it’s not meant for public consumption, every one of Peter Nygard’s creations makes its debut on a catwalk.

The fashion mogul’s company has donated 1,500 hospital gowns specifically designed and fabricated for CancerCare Manitoba. The gowns will be worn by Manitoba women who are undergoing mammograms in Winnipeg and 16 other sites around the province.

"Women are often at their most vulnerable while waiting for a mammogram and its results," said Annitta Stenning, executive director of the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. "These beautifully made gowns enable women to maintain their dignity and feel positive about their experience. This, in turn, helps ensure they make regular mammograms a part of their health regimen."

The gowns, which represent a donation worth $90,000, will be unveiled at Nygard’s Fall Fashion Premiere event tonight at its 1626 Kenaston Boulevard store at 6 p.m.
