Olympian synchro swimmers to share expertise this weekend

Canada’s synchronized swimming elite will be in Winnipeg this weekend to share their expertise to coaches and young athletes from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Four members of the 2012 Canadian Sychronized Swimming Olympic Team -- Chloé Isaac, Stéphanie Leclair, Karine Thomas and Élise Marcotte -- and the new national team head coach Meng Chen will gather here as part of Synchro Canada’s 2012 Annual Convention.
The convention will see more than 80 Synchro Canada employees, committee members, athletes, coaches, officials and high-performance coaches meet to share ideas and expertise.
"Synchro Canada is very pleased to assemble its members in Manitoba," said Synchro Canada’s CEO Catherine Gosselin-Després in a press release. "We want to leave a legacy to our more than 380 members in the province and an opportunity to our grassroots athletes to meet their Olympic idol who will share their expertise and their experience in London."
Among the confirmed speakers are:
- Pierre Lafontaine (CEO and National Coach of Swimming Canada);
- Mikael Begon (world renowned acrobatics coach);
- Leslie Sproule (coach of the Brazilian duet at the 2012 Olympic Games);
- Jonathan Tremblay (exercise physiologist of Synchro Canada’s Centre of Excellence)
- Graham Barton (High Performance Advisor with Own the Podium)
And on Saturday the 2012 Olympians, who finished fourth in the duet and team events in London, will jump in the water at the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex to share their knowledge and passion with young coaches and coaches.
"Synchro Manitoba is so excited to welcome the synchronized swimming community across Canada to Winnipeg," said Synchro Manitoba's Executive Director, Allison Gervais. "We know that this will be an opportunity for our own local athletes, coaches, and officials to learn and work with our fantastic Olympians. It will be an experience they will never forget."
