On the road with the Goldeyes

video player to use on WFP

It's a life of bus trips, card games, knee treatments, winning, losing and baseball. A lot of baseball.

Just in August alone the Winnipeg Goldeyes play 20 games on the road in the American Association of Independent Baseball. Some of these independent league players have made it the majors for a short period and been sent back down again. Some have never made it and are young enough to still dream of it, or old enough to wonder about a new career after baseball.

The story of their baseball lives over a six-game road trip will be in Saturday's Free Press and at winnipegfreepress.com.

For more on this story, see our Point of View post of photos from two days and two road games in Sioux City, Iowa.
