Original Duhks reunite for recording, tour

The Duhks are getting the band back together.

The original lineup of the Winnipeg-based Juno winners and Grammy nominees are returning into the studio to work on an EP and a tour that will kick off Friday, March 22, at the West End Cultural Centre.

The Duhks have been on semi-hiatus since 2010, and the original band members — Leonard Podolak, Tania Elizabeth, Jessee Havey, Jordan McConnell and Scott Senior — haven’t performed together since 2007.

Podolak said The Duhks won’t return to their heavy touring days of their past, which he said was one of the reasons why the band broke up in the first place. They all have projects and lives outside The Duhks that will keep a North American tour to 25 to 40 dates in 2013, he said.

"I would never say The Duhks were a stepping stone, but it has been a springboard for us to go in so many other directions," Podolak said Friday.

The March 22 show begins at 8 p.m., with advance tickets going for $20, $25 at the door.
